Are You Using AI Correctly While Building Your Content Strategy?

Last week, I posted an article about how I wrote a piece of content, and an AI detector stated that my writing sounded AI-generated.

It got me thinking about what the most requested prompt on ChatGPT was, and to keep it brief, I want to share the results of my curiosity.

📈 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐏𝐓: "Create Engaging Social Media Content" 📈

This isn’t a shocker. I've been reading a lot of posts lately about generalists—how companies now expect a marketing specialist to master SEO, PPC campaigns, organic and growth strategies, link building, and social media strategies while also working as a content strategy consultant.

While a good marketing campaign results from a well-integrated strategy, content is one of the most demanding aspects. We’re talking about a brand's personality, what they’re comfortable sharing, and how attached they might be to older content that isn’t performing well.

So, it’s no surprise that one of the most requested prompts is: "𝑷𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒌𝒊𝒄𝒌-𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 30 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒔."

With that said, here’s a setup that can help you get the most out of AI-generated content ideas:

  • 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬: Determine what you want to achieve—brand awareness, product promotion, or community engagement. Document this for future reference when working on other campaigns.

  • 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞: Decide on the tone—playful, professional, or informative.

  • Provide Context: When requesting content from GPT, give clear instructions about your audience, the message, and any specific elements you want to include.

  • 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭: Always review the generated content. Personalize it further to match your brand’s voice and ensure it aligns with your overall strategy.

I also prompted ChatGPT to share the most popular content strategy requests, and here are a few 🫡 :

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬

"What are some blog post ideas for [industry]?"

"Suggest 10 social media content ideas for [brand/product]."

"What trending topics can I write about in [niche]?"

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠

"Help me create a monthly content calendar for [business/industry]."

"What are some evergreen content ideas for [season/holiday]?"

"What types of content should I post for a product launch?"

𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭

"Create 5 Instagram captions for [product/campaign]."

"What are some engaging LinkedIn post ideas for [industry]?"

"Write a Twitter thread on [industry trend]."

Using GPT to create engaging social media content is great for brainstorming, but on its own, it might produce generic or overused ideas. Investing the time to really speak your client's language will do wonders in getting the best results from this tool.

Have you tried using GPT for your content strategy? If so, would you use these prompts? 🤔
